A Work in Progress

As I mentioned in the last post, I just completed my specialist in I.T.  I have been working away on it for 4 years, taking a course each summer (except last summer, as the courses were cancelled). I was finally able to complete part three this summer!

Online courses are a lot of work, but I think I enjoy the challenge. My biggest goal, as I completed each assignment, was to ensure that it would be useful after the course was complete. I didn't want to do all the work and then "throw it away!"  For the course, I completed a number of my assignments, using a variety of digital tools - including Prezi, Powtoon, and Google Forms. I was surprised how easy they were to use, and I was able to navigate through each program on my own.

I have learned a great deal this summer, and come across a number of fantastic resources.  As one of my assignments, I created a site, using Google Sites, where I included presentations to administration, teachers and parents (the assignment).  I also referred to a number of possible resources, and added a technology plan (a different assignment) for my school. Although I created these for use at my school, you may find it useful as well. If you would like to check out these resources and how they may be used, click on the link below.

Once we return to school and settle in, I will be adding to the site (especially the SUPPORT section, which is currently empty) and hopefully having some colleagues help me maintain it, with resources they find useful. So, please check back often!

Yours in continued learning,

Jackie (a.k.a. Ms.M)

  1. So happy to have you link up with Blog by Province. I think it is awesome that you are willing to share all the things you have been learning about IT. I too am on a steep learning curve, and hope to share some of what I have learned with my own students. Please make sure you download the Ontario blogger button (right click and save URL) and then upload it as a widget (image with link) to your sidebar so that people can find other Ontario bloggers through your link up! Great to have you on board!

  2. Thank you for being my first follower! I am excited to find so many Ontario bloggers, as most of the bloggers I know of are from the US. I am especially thrilled to have people to contact regarding the new FDK and kindergarten curriculum, as I am new to kindergarten (not having taught it since my student teaching days). I was just about to link up to the Ontario bloggers and I did something to loose my background. This self-taught stuff can be time-consuming! ;)
